Who we are
Founded in 2025, Bluestem Meadows LLC was created to fill a niche - to connect Rhode Islanders and Southern New England with each other and the space we live.
Owner, Kevin Ormerod, forged a unique path in his decade since graduating from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Geological Oceanography and minor in Soil Sciences. Kevin partnered with local conservation agencies while intently exploring the globally unique landscapes we walk and drive through everyday, in order to make sense of the variables that are foundational to the ecosystems we encourage or disrupt.
Reducing resource consumption and better allocating our finite supplies is the main objective of BSM LLC.
Biodiversity and functional ecosystems provide essential services to humanity. When ecosystems are degraded or poorly managed, the resulting surge in flooding, wildfires, and disease vectors (like ticks and mosquitoes) inflicts millions of dollars in annual damages, significantly increasing the tax burden and reducing our ability to enjoy a safe environment.
With a diverse background from organic agriculture/permaculture, engineering, to rare and endangered plant surveying, Kevin utilizes his experience working with nature to build resilient, aesthetic gardens that save you money and increase your well-being. Immersion within functional, lush environments restores and builds our sense of connection to this planet.
